An Afternoon With Astor & Black (pt. II) [July 2nd, 2010]
So, a few weeks after I had my initial fitting, Christmas has come early. Two suits and a shirt by Astor & Black were delivered to my home by A&B clothier Berel Rapoport…and I have to say, they came out pretty damned well. The fit of all three items is spot-on. The pants are especially slim and comfortable. I went with peak lapels on both suits (naturally). Ticket pockets, and the oh-so-coveted Surgeon’s Cuffs. The service was impeccable, and I would not hesitate patronizing them again. Considering how affordable they were ($499 for a suit made out of their lower end fabrics), one could do much much worse. I look forward to actively wearing these in the wild. Alright. More Rock, Less Talk.
I’m sure my neighbors are getting tired of seeing me prance up and down the block whenever I get new clothes. Meh.
What say you?

The sleeves on the first suit are torquing due to improper angle. They need to rotated counterclockwise. I imagine the second suit does the same. Also, the top of the sleeve looks full compared to the remainder of the sleeve and the slimness of the suit silhouette.
First suit jacket seems a little too slim in the waist and maybe in the chest – I can’t tell from the pics if the lapels are bowing though.
Both of these are nitpicking, but I’d have them certainly fix the sleeve torquing. That’s completely their fault.
BTW, love that Glen Plaid. Sharp as hell.
the fit of these suits is fantastic! money well spent, wale!
W – both suits looks good. As I said previously, the price for fit and construction offered by A+B is a good value proposition. Seems like your happy – would be curious how they hold up after a few wears.
Agree with above re: sleeve tourquing. I’m having similar problem with mine and will be asking my rep to fix it. Not sure how to address this going forward with future jackets, could see it becoming a persistent issue…..
Sleek Suit. 499 isn’t bad….. well it’s bad for a law clerk. I may have to patronize them after a couple million dollar verdicts…. ya know….all in due time
